Finding the best hydraulic juice press is not as complex as other types of juice extractors. Your options are limited to one manual hydraulic juicer, the Welle’s Juice Press, and a pair of two-step hydraulic juice extractors, The Norwalk Juicer, The Pure Juicer.
These machines are gods of juice extraction efficiency and nutrient retention. That is why it is highly recommended by the Gerson Institute.
The Gerson Therapy
“The Gerson Therapy is a natural treatment that activates the body’s extraordinary ability to heal itself through an organic, plant-based diet, raw juices, coffee enemas, and natural supplements.”—The Gerson Institute.
It’s an alternative course of treatment for degenerative diseases, diabetes, cancer, and other medical conditions. It follows a strict regimen of nutrient-boosting diet, supplementation, and detoxification.
In theory, once you’ve addressed toxicity and nutritional deficiency, the underlying cause of most illnesses, your body’s natural defenses will do its work in fighting off the disease.
Why are Hydraulic Juice Presses the Best Juicer for the Gerson Method?
The Gerson Institute doesn’t recommend centrifugal juicers because it exposes the juice to two leading causes of nutrient breakdown—oxidation and heat. To put it simply, it destroys the essential healing enzymes in the juice.
Here’s what Dr. Gerson, the founder of the Gerson Therapy, says about it:
“When the grinding wheel rotates against a resistance with insufficient access of air, positive electricity is produced and induces negative electricity on the surrounding wall. The exchange of positive and negative ions kills the oxidizing enzymes and renders the juice deficient.”
That is on top of the heat and oxidation factor.
Dr. Gerson further notes that “In his many years of clinical experience, patients who used centrifugal juicers did not have success with the Therapy.”
For a juicer to be Gerson Therapy approved, it should be able to retain the maximum amounts of nutrients and enzymes, and at the same time, the juice should be completely smooth and pulp-free for optimal absorption.
These criteria perfectly fit the description of cold press juicers, but not all slow juicers earned the approval of the Gerson Institute.
Gerson Approved Juicers
The top three machines on their list are The Norwalk Juicer, The Pure Juicer, and the Welle’s Juice Press. These juicing machines are the only choices for managing malignancies.
Gerson Juicers for Cancer Therapy
#1 The Pure Juicer – The Best Hydraulic Juice Press
The pure juicer was the second hydraulic juice press. It entered the market in a big way. You’ll get an overall premium experience with it—from its packaging to the highly detailed manual, and the product itself. It’s a work of art if you will.
What sets this product apart from its main rival is its modern look and food-grade stainless steel construction. Literally, you’ll get a pure juice with this amazing product. This feat allowed it to dominate this category as the best hydraulic juicer.
#2 Norwalk Juicer – The Best Juicer for Gerson Therapy
The Norwalk Juicer is the #1 Gerson Juicer, and there’s a reason behind it. It’s the first hydraulic juice extractor that was available in the market. Dr. Walker, the founder of the Norwalk juicer, was Dr. Gerson’s contemporary. He also championed nutrition as a means to improve one’s health and as well as an alternative route in treating diseases.
For many years, it has reigned as the best juicer for the Gerson diet until this very moment. What the Pure Juicer lacks is years of proven track record. The Norwalk juicer has decades of experience and success with the Gerson Institute.
#3 Welle’s Juice Press – Budget Pick
The Welle’s Juice Press, also known as the People’s Juice Press, is a cheaper alternative to both machines. It’s 400% percent less expensive.
If you’re familiar with a car’s hydraulic jack, it works pretty much like it.
To be able to use it effectively, though, the Gerson Institute suggests to use it in tandem with the Champion Household Juicer.
Gerson Juicers for Non-malignant Therapy
For health conditions other than cancer, here’s a long list of Gerson approved juicers.
- Champion Household Juicer
- Super Angel Juicer
- Tribest Green Star Juicers
- Tribest Solo Star
- Green Power Juicer
- Hurom Slow Juicers
- Omega juicers (slow juicers only)
What is a Hydraulic Juice Press?
Let’s get back to basics for a moment, and let’s discuss what a hydraulic juicer is.
A hydraulic juice press is a type of juicer which uses ‘hydraulic’ pressure to extract juice from fruits and vegetables. There’s a manually operated model, the People’s Press, and there are also electric hydraulic juice presses, the Pure Juicer, and the Norwalk Juicer.
The Manual Hydraulic Juice Press
The manual model is pretty straight forward. Once you’ve diced your produce, the next step would be securing it in a pressing bag or cloth, put it on the press plate, and start applying pressure until all the juices have been extracted.
If you’re going to use it for the Gerson diet, it should be used along with the champion juicer for the sole purpose of grinding the produce. It may seem ironic, but Dr. Gerson has a reason behind it. I’ll explain it to you in a bit.
The Two-Stage Hydraulic Juice Press
On the other hand, a two-step hydraulic juicer has two parts, a grinder, and a pressing element. After chopping up your fruits and vegetables, you need to run it through the mill, place the grinds nice and secure in a pressing bag or cloth, put it on the press plate, then you can flip the switch to get the juices flowing.
Dr. Gerson suggests that this type of hydraulic press is the most efficient. He found out that grinding was necessary to allow the produce to release more minerals. And he further added that “During the process of grinding and pressing in a two-step juicer, the produce is not subjected to heat or electricity, so the fresh, healing enzymes in the raw fruits and vegetables are preserved in the juices.”
What’s common between both this type of hydraulic presses is the use of a pressing bag of cloth to hold the produce in place while extracting the juice.
Over To You
Hydraulic Juice Presses are optimized for the Gerson diet. It’s the only type of juicer which satisfies the organization’s nutritional requirement for its cancer therapy. For the record, there is no other type of juice extractor out there that can rival its juice extraction efficiency and nutrient retention.
On that note, I’m leaving you with the best hydraulic juice press—The Pure Juicer.
